Amersham Town Council
King George V Recreation Ground is in the centre of Amersham-on-the-Hill, owned and maintained by Amersham Town Council. Consisting of five acres of open space for walking and recreation, it is used for athletics training, and for hosting a variety of community events. Existing facilities include a skate park, a junior playground, a newly refurbished infant playground and an Olympic Legacy outdoor-fitness area, (providing fitness equipment, MUGA, street snooker and table tennis).
The site is bordered by Amersham Community Centre, Amersham Library, a Leisure Centre (with swimming pool) and a local youth club meets nearby.
As a busy commuter town, Amersham is especially popular with families because of the good local schools and proximity to London. However, building development over recent years has seen a significant reduction in available open space within the town, putting even more pressure on the existing facilities to provide activities for the local residents to enjoy.
