Wingham Parish Council
Elgar's Field is a small plot of land situated on the northern boundary of the village which the Parish Council acquired in 1997 in order to provide a much needed open space for residents to enjoy and also for the provision of allotments. Part of the field is now given over to 12 allotment plots for Wingham residents. The remaining field enjoys uninterrupted views across the countryside to neighouring villages and is planted with several trees, including Turners Oak, Norway Maple and Silver Birch. It is an ideal space for reflection and contemplation and, as part of the national Centenary Commemorations of WWI, the Parish Council have installed a WWI Memorial bench.
