Canterbury City Council
Along Herne Bay's seafront there is a range of parcels of land that connect to form an integrated coastal park. The town itself has a history of being a traditional Victorian seaside resort, and the town centre is being regenerated. The parcels of land allow a wide range of leisure activities and provide semi natural landscapes, unique to Kent, and good views across the Thames estuary and out to the North Sea. Establishing a QE II park will bring together the parcels of land under one management scheme, and provide a branding opportunity for Herne Bay to boost its regeneration and establish it as a major visitor destination.
Regenerating Herne Bay's town centre and coast is a key strategic project for the council supporting economic and neighbourhood renewal and supporting local tourism. Access for all is good. Establishing a coastal park is a key component in the seafront regeneration.
