Announcing the 2014 Winners of the Fields in Trust Awards

Hosted by Olympic medallist and BBC pundit Steve Parry at Lords Cricket Ground the Awards celebrate the fantastic achievements of the past year, of Fields in Trust and its partners, focusing on outstanding individuals, landowners and other organisations who have worked hard over the last 12 months to ensure that everyone has access to protected outdoor recreational space.

Awards were presented in a variety of categories and the winners were selected by a judging panel including representatives from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Green Flag Awards, Join In, Sport England, Sport Wales and sportscotland. The award winners are:

Best ‘Have a Field Day’ – Wepre Park, Flintshire

Getting Active on a Fields in Trust Field – QEII Park View Playing Fields, Lancashire

The Inclusion Award for accessible space – Fretherne Saul & Framilode Village Hall & Playing Field,  Gloucestershire

The ‘Love your Field’ award – Barn Elms Playing Fields, London

Partner of the Year (Local Authority) – London Borough of Enfield

Partner of the Year (Town & Parish Council) – Horley Town Council, Surrey

Partner of the Year (Other Organisations) – Surrey County Playing Fields Association, Surrey

Fields in Trust Community Champion – Christine Thomas, Friends of Coed Bach, Swansea

 

Helen Griffiths, Chief Executive of Fields in Trust said: ‘These awards showcase the fantastic work that has taken place across the UK to ensure that everyone has access to outdoor recreational space. The important role played by individuals, landowners, local authorities, and many others, has been highlighted this evening and we are delighted to reward their efforts.”
