Fields in Trust Scotland partners Sportscotland for new funding stream

We're delighted to announce that Fields in Trust Scotland is one of Sportscotland's partners in their £10million Active Places Fund.

This is a key part of the Scottish Government's programme to create a lasting legacy from the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The fund will provide grants of between £10,000 and £100,000 to create or improve a range of community facilities where people go to get active. These include:
•    upgrading sports fields
•    upgrading or creating an outdoor facilitiy that increases or improves outdoor activity
•    installing or improving cycle tracks
•    installing or upgrading walking routes
•    reinstating redundant or unloved sports or recreation facilities
or any other kind of improvement to your outdoor recreational space.

"...Playing fields offer invaluable spaces for formal and informal activity and it is essential that these are protected for future generations.  I am confident that the Queen Elizabeth Fields can play an important role in the development of community sport hubs and enhance the health and wellbeing of com munities across Scotland."
Shona Robison MSP, Minister for Commonwealth Games and Sport
