On 13 July 3015, Tom Pursglove MP put forward a motion: That leave be given to bring in a Bill to require public consultation to be carried out in local areas where the sale of park or playing field land owned by a public body is proposed; to require referendums on such proposals in certain circumstances; and for connected purposes.
Fields in Trust Chief Executive Helen Griffiths comments:
"Outdoor recreational spaces are increasingly under threat in today’s society. Fields in Trust is delighted to see Tom Pursglove MP put forward a motion to introduce public consultation when sale of public land is proposed. Protecting the future of parks and playgrounds is vital to ensuring healthy communities and this bill helps to illustrate how important this issue is to local people."
