"The nationwide Diamond Jubilee celebrations this weekend promise to be truly spectacular. This milestone is particularly special for Fields in Trust as we are honoured also to be celebrating HM The Queen’s 60 years as our Patron.
As a tribute to this our programme The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge, led by The Duke of Cambridge, aims to have safeguarded 2,012 outdoor recreational spaces as legacy of these great events. Communities across the UK will be celebrating their Queen Elizabeth II Fields this weekend with dedication ceremonies and Have a Field Day parties.
We’d like to thank HM The Queen along with our President HRH The Duke of Edinburgh for their long-standing support of Fields in Trust and HRH The Duke of Cambridge for helping to make The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge such as success.
Fittingly we are just over half way towards our target of 2,012 Queen Elizabeth II Fields at this milestone. We’d also like to thank all of the Local Authorities, Town and Parish Councils and other landowners who have worked in partnership with us and we encourage others to get involved during this great year.
Without the generosity of our partners Asda and the support of Freshfields, The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry and many others we would not have been able to ensure that future generations will always have somewhere to go and something to do. "
