Thanks you if you voted for any of the nominated parks as the UK's Best Park. The three parks with the most votes will be shortlisted with the winning park announced at the Fields in Trust Awards Ceremony at Lord's Cricket Ground on Wednesday 2nd December.

Fields in Trust is the only national charity that protects the parks, playing fields and playgrounds that you love. Founded in 1925 by King George V, we currently protect over 2,500 outdoor recreational sites from development.

Caldecott Park

Corsham Cricket Club

Corsham CC's home since 1848, the ring of Japanese Flowering Cherry trees planted to commemorate the Club's centenary provides a particularly picturesque scene at the end of April. Hagley Park

This park is the centre of the village, the place where our kids learnt to cycle, play football, cricket and how not to fall off the monkey bars! It's a great place for them to see their friends and we've recently gained a skate park and zip wire.

Hatherton Reservoir

Hatherton reservoir is nestled alongside the M6 Toll Road and maintained as a refuge for the local community following the development of the toll road when it was built. Now established as a fishing spot and a comfortable walk with benches regularly spaced as a memory walk to assist recovery from ill health.

Kings Park

A Green Flag status beautiful park with an outstanding formal and informal area. Soon to have an exciting water play facility. Something for everyone to enjoy including the River Idle and the scented rose gardens.

Papplewick Village Playing Fields

The popular park is owned and maintained by Papplewick Parish Council. The photo shows typical community involvement in this work. The park is well used at all times particularly on our Annual FIT Play Day and the Bonfire Event which is a fund raiser for ongoing village and park improvements.

The Quarry

It is a wonderful area by the River Severn in Shrewsbury. It has a beautiful sunken garden created by the famous Percy Thrower. The very well know Shrewsbury Flower Show takes place in the Quarry every year. There is a fantastic children's play area plus activity on the River Severn.

Whaley Bridge Memorial Park

The Memorial Park holds many happy childhood memories for me. In recent years it had become very sad and neglected but still held onto its magical charm and sense of being a special place. The recent renovation of the park with significant funding from the Heritage Lottery, has restored the park, creating a valuable green space for recreation and relaxation. A truly lovely park.

Contains the only public 18 hole golf course in inner London which is totally inclusive, accessible and of historical importance. The park needs some TLC but is nevertheless a beautiful space.

Steeple Aston Millennium Park was constructed as a playground with grant funding and a lot of effort from locals and it is simply the best playground in Oxfordshire with visitors coming from miles around. The parish council recently installed a toilet which is unique for a rural playground and much appreciated by visitors.

It’s abutted by a children's play area in Cheam, boasts a lovely cafe in its centre and is simply a wonderful place to just be. It's an ancient site and once housed one of Henry VIII's palaces.

Queen's Wood is an area of ancient woodland dating back to at least 1600, with the status of a statutory local nature reserve. Wardown Park, loved by the community, has benefited from investment with restoration of the suspension bridge; re-opened at a garden party in July 2015. Following safety concerns in 2007 we formed a friends group, raised over £85,00 in 2 years and got ourselves a lovely and well used play area for the local community. We hold regular events in the Park and this has brought a slumbering community back to life. Its the meeting place for friends both young and old.

Mesnes Park

Opened to the public in 1927, Mesnes Park is set in the heart of Newton-le-Willows. The home to the annual Newton Town Show, Mesnes Park Bowling Club, the Park Rangers and Newton Heritage Trail, it is accessible to all. The park was expanded in the early 1990s and again in 2012.

Nuttall Park

Nuttall Park is a beautiful community park where everyone is able to enjoy colourful gardens, play equipment, sports and a Tea Room run by Friends of Nuttall Park. It is well used and respected. Nuttall Park was given to the people of Ramsbottom in 1928 and they are still able to enjoy fresh air and friendship in wonderful surroundings.

Sandringham Park is very special because it if fully inclusive to all. It has adult play equipment and lots of volunteers who clean it up and put on events like the big lunch. It has won 4 Green Flag Awards and Yorkshire in Bloom. We have lots of games and dog walkers every day and they pick up their dog poo.

Sewerby Hall and Gardens

Residents of Bridlington and surrounding areas and even visitors from abroad have loved this park through generations. There are many memories connected to this park weddings, christenings, picnics, play time, holidays, educational visits, charity support groups, and a long stranding relationship with Amy Johnson and recently exhibitions from Downton Abbey.

Silloth Green

Silloth Green is located on the West Cumbrian Coast, with spectacular views across the Solway Firth. A sympathetic refurbishment of the Green was completed in 2012. Silloth Green has fun areas for children and families, refurbished heritage features, picnic areas and gardens, with events and festivals held throughout the year.

Stanley Park

It is a Green Flag park and a designated conservation area which is Grade 2* on the national register of historic parks and gardens. It has all sports facilities and Bandstand events every summer Sunday. It is much loved, much used and kept in pristine condition.

Walton Hall Park

Walton Hall Park dates back to 1149 and plays a huge part in all our communities lives. It is brimming with wildlife and is very popular with residents and visitors and is our little piece of countryside in a very busy city.

West Park

West Park has 2 bowling greens, child's play area, band stand, skate and bike park and a beautiful cafe, lots of places to walk and friendly people who use the park.

Carnfunnock offers attractions for kids, woodland and coastal walks, year round facilities. I love it because it is the perfect mix of tended gardens and ancient woodland. The parks year round attractions and modern facilities complement the wild places very well. Its used daily by hundreds of people!

Diamond Jubilee Wood
Diamond Jubilee Wood, BT38 9JR

A living, lasting legacy to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's 60th year as monarch, Northern Ireland’s only 'flagship wood’. 60,000 trees, community planted orchard, pond, wildflower meadows, picnic area and sculpture. Northern Ireland’s only 'Woollen Wood', bringing arts and environment together. Biodiversity Summer School runs each summer teaching families about local wildlife.

Dixon Park
Dixon Park, BT40 1QB

First opened in 1935, gifted to the people of Larne by Sir Thomas Dixon, a prominent local businessman and politician. Underwent a £1 million regeneration project in 2010 which restored the park to its original splendor, including a new bandstand, grand entrance gates, new play facilities and youth education centre.

Ecos Nature Park

An oasis of wildlife close to the heart of Ballymena town centre. 8km path across 220 acres of parkland that includes maturing woodland, peaceful lake and ponds, grazed meadows and hay meadows. Home to otters, breeding and migrating birds and a huge range of interesting plant life including rare Orchids.

Greenisland Play Park

Officially re-opened in May 2015 and enjoyed by the local community, the park has an extensive range of quality play equipment including climbing frames and swings. The park specifically included equipment designed for children with disabilities including a wheelchair friendly roundabout and a special full body support swing seat.

Marine Gardens

Re-opened in 2012 following a £1.3 million regeneration scheme and featuring a galleon ship at the centre of the play zone. Play Day, the National Day for Play, is held here each summer to celebrate children's right to play and to highlight the importance of play in children’s lives.

Ormeau Park

The oldest park in Belfast City, it has everything, from gentle walks to mountain biking trails, and a BMX track. Playgrounds, bandstand, football pitches and an orienteering course - this park has everything, within a city!

People's Park
People's Park, BT43 6JA

Featuring a well-equipped children's play area, tennis courts, bowling green, picnic areas and large lake, home to a range of wild ducks and geese. The site hosts Art in the Park and Music in the Park each summer and has a 'teddy toddle' walk, a safe walk for young children.

Riverwalk Park

The park has a lovely setting, running alongside the Braid River in the picturesque village of Broughshane in Northern Ireland. The park has excellent disabled access, well maintained paths, green spaces, children's play park, wildfowl area and various quirky installations. The upkeep of the park is carried out by a local volunteer group.

Valley Park

At first glance, Valley Park may not appear exceptional. But what it may lack in appearance, it is in its tranquil atmosphere that solace is to be found. None more so than the kids (with their parents) who face cancer, who attend the hospice which adjoins and overlooks the park.

Brynmill Park is a special place, made so with assistance from a committed group of volunteers who deserve to have their efforts and park recognised. The park facilitates educational visits and events which contribute a great deal to the local and wider community and is integral in supporting social cohesion.

Coedbach Park

Coedbach Park deserves this award for the exceptionally strong community partnerships with a 'hands-on' approach that has transformed it. The 'friends' group, working in conjunction with key partners have created an area that is stunningly beautiful and affords outdoor activity for the whole of the community. It is truly exceptional.

Creigiau Recreation Ground

Creigiau Recreation Ground is at the heart of our village life. Not only does it feature tennis courts, an adventure park, skate park, petangue area, pavilion, allotments, as well as cricket and football pitches, it also hosts our famous village carnival, which regularly attracts 1,500 people. To see Creigiau Recreation Ground awarded the title 'Best Park in the UK' would be incredibly special for everybody in the village.

Cuthill Park

It is a much-loved park with something for everyone. It has quiet areas for contemplation and views across the Forth through a free-to-use telescope as well as an exciting well equipped play area. It is home to various artwork and a geocache. The park is a venue for several community events.

Dawson Park

Dawson Park has diverse sport facilities catering for many different tastes. Within Dawson Park is Duntrune Community Gardens, which is run by SAMH a mental health charity in partnership with the council who deliver a therapeutic horticulture programme, organic veg is grown and given away to the public.

Duthie Park in set in the heart of Aberdeen and is a hub of activity. Not only is it host to regular events for the city, but as the home of the Winter gardens, boating pond, vast green areas and the most outstanding kids play areas, this park is a great all rounder for a family day out.

The park is a great place to visit with children's play areas and a 2km path around a large loch which is ideal for cycling and jogging. It's also a great place to spot and photograph wildlife, particularly Whooper Swans that fly from Iceland to spend the winter in Glasgow!

Jubilee Park East Williamston, Tenby is a community initiative - we have a wonderful play area, lots of space to walk, pick blackberries, enjoy the nature trails and it's all managed with volunteers.

The park has attained Green Flag status continuously for 11 years. A new community cafe has just opened up and the owners are working closely with Parks staff to make visiting even more of a pleasure. A well loved and beautiful place.

Pontcanna Fields

A beautiful space which is completely central in the city (and so very easily accessible) and yet big enough that everyone feels safe away from the roads. The park is enjoyed by all ages and groups and has its own events for children and adults to join in. A lovely cafe complements the park with a playground for children. A real pleasure to have in the local area.

Pringle Park's a fab, exciting playpark for all ages which we've been waiting for forever!! It's a lovely area brilliant for spending a day. There are 3 playareas where I have great fun taking my nephew. It's run by the community, full of fun and laughter from children who use it.

It has something for everyone - a boating lake, botanic gardens, a conservatory, a lakeside cafe, recreation grounds for children, "wild" areas, an abundance of wildlife and a lovely walkway around the lake and gardens (popular with runners, walkers and dog walkers). A fantastic space, a stone's throw from the city centre.

Amazing park for all ages. Floral displays, play park, skate park, wonderful bandstand, cinema nights, events going on throughout the year and kept immaculate by the grounds men. Wonderful cafe catering for all. I cannot praise this park enough and deserves to win! I feel proud to visit this park as a Dartford resident.

This much loved park has everything - gardenesque historical area and features, wide variety of ornamental trees and shrubs and herbaceous borders as well as natural ecological meadows, hedgerows and ponds, event areas, a large lake with wildfowl and boats, a cafe a 'Head Gardener' and a very active Friends group.

Ellington Park is so special because it is an oasis of tranquility and beauty in the town of Ramsgate. The whole community is involved in improving this once neglected Park and together have funded benches, table tennis table, 3D art from tree stumps and a wildlife garden. We love it!

Epsom Common

It is on the edge of Epsom and offers easy access to mature woods. Offers well managed cycle and footpaths. Ponds, good variety of species, kids friendly, low difficulty for any members of community. Has a church and few pubs on the side and multiple entry points.

Farnham Park

Farnham Park is a fantastic place to take dogs for walks, relax with the family and has great views of Farnham and surrounding countryside. The brand new play area is fantastic for children and looks fabulous.

Gratton Play Area

The Gratton Play area, recently refurbished is a wonderful focus for the village of Sutton Scotney. The community celebrates at every possible chance on this wonderful open space. Kid's play area, keep fit trail, football pitches, pavilion. The park is maintained by a troop of volunteers and is a really special place for this community.

Hamworthy Park

I love this park and have been going there for 61 years as a child and with my family, my daughter and her 4 children. Where else can you find such a space for play and a beach with views of the Purbeck Hills. The paddling is great for the small children and the playground, the beach is lovely all year round.

Stoneham Park is a small, busy park in the middle of a built up Victorian estate. Most houses have small gardens and the Park gives us a community area to use. It caters for all ages, and lots of people have grown up here and now take their children here.

My nomination - Wedmore Playing Fields as my favourite green space. So many people have benefitted and will continue to benefit from the new football pitches, cricket nets, MUGA, tennis courts and play area – the key to the future well-being from young to old – a big thumbs up from me.

Wonersh Common Sports Ground is a beautiful green space in the centre of the village, surrounded by trees and benches and ringed by Chinthurst and Barnett Hills. There are facilities for walking, running, playing cricket, stoolball or football and a well equipped playground with equipment suitable for toddlers to adults.
