Home > Enjoy > Have a Field Day > Host an event > Have a Fundraising Field Day > Sporting challenges

We're challenging YOU to take on a fun challenge and help protect playing fields forever!

Have a Field Day goodie box

We are asking you and your sports club to take on a fun Have a Field Day Sporting Challenge - see how well you can do, donate £1 to Fields in Trust, and then challenge a friend to do the same.

If your sports club has training or a match on Have a Field Day, Saturday 8th July, why not finish your session with some fun and ask everyone to take on one of our Have a Field Day Sporting Challenges.

The Drop Goal Challenge with the Northampton Saints

Thanks to Christian Day, Ethan Waller and Mike Haywood from the Northampton Saints for supporting Fields in Trust! Take inspiration from them by trying The Drop Goal Challenge at rugby training, at the local park or in your back garden:

  • Make sure you have someone ready to film you on their smart phone
  • Get a rugby ball
  • Spot the ball on the ground and run around it 10 times
  • Look up and take your penalty – be prepared to look daft!
  • Donate £1 to Fields in Trust for your challenge

  • If you are happy to, share your video on Twitter tagging @FieldsinTrust and using #LoveYourLocalPark
  • Challenge your team mates and friends to try The Drop Goal Challenge

The Rugby Catching Challenge

Thanks to Fields in Trust Cymru Chairman Brynmor Williams and Cardiff Blues scrum-half Lloyd Williams for taking on The Rugby Catching Challenge! Try it yourself at training, at the local park or in your back garden:

  • Make sure you have someone ready to film you on their smart phone
  • Gather together ten rugby balls from your clubhouse
  • Ask a friend to kick one rugby ball after another towards you, for you to catch. The challenge is to keep holding the previous rugby balls (however you can manage!), whilst you try to catch the next ball. See if you can catch and keep hold of ten rugby balls without letting any hit the ground!
  • Donate £1 to Fields in Trust for your challenge

  • If you are happy to, share your video on Twitter tagging @FieldsinTrust and using #LoveYourLocalPark
  • Challenge your team mates and friends to try The Rugby Catching Challenge

The Dizzy Penalty Challenge

Take on The Dizzy Penalty Challenge at football training, at the local park or in your back garden:

  • Make sure you have someone ready to film you on their smart phone
  • Get two footballs
  • Line up one football opposite the goal ready for a penalty
  • Place another football about 10 metres behind the first, and keeping your hand on the top of this ball run around it 10 times
  • Keep running and take your penalty with the first ball you placed down – be prepared to look daft!
  • Donate £1 to Fields in Trust for your challenge

  • If you are happy to, share your video on Twitter tagging @FieldsinTrust and using #LoveYourLocalPark
  • Challenge your team mates and friends to try The Dizzy Penalty Challenge

Challenge Yourself

If you don’t fancy any of the challenges we have listed here, why not come up with one of your own? Remember to film yourself doing your own challenge so others can have a go too!

Can't get your challenge right first time? Don't worry, it happens to the best of us! Take a look at the outtakes from when our team took on the sporting challenges:
