Owned by East Dorset District Council since 2000 the area is primarily rough grassland and currently attracts many local walkers. The site is managed by the Rangers of the East Dorset Countryside Management Service who not only keep the area in good condition but organise events such as nature discovery sessions for local children. Proposal are in place for the site to become a SANG (Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace) in 2011 and works will involve; tree planting (including a Community Orchard), a Wild Space play area, new footpaths, a wetland area and a small car park. Local residents will be involved in some of the tree planting and will help to construct the pond. It is also hoped that local school children will help to maintain the trees once planted.
