Higher Memorial Park sits within an urban area of Failsworth, north east of Manchester city centre. It was purchased by public donation after World War I and dedicated as green open space for the residents of Failsworth.
An unlisted memorial stone is sited in the park which was officially unveiled and blessed in line with 2015 World War I centenary commemorations. A plaque on the memorial reads: "In proud and grateful memory of the brave men & women who laid down their lives in the Great War, 1914-1918. This stone marks the land bought by the families, and dedicated to the memory, of all those Failsworth residents who gave their lives for our freedom during WWI."
As well as a distinctive and engaging play woodland the park has free tennis courts, a multi-sports area, bowling green, flower beds and ample seating.
