The area was conveyed to the townspeople of Ledbury for safekeeping in memory of the 85 men who gave their lives in World War I and is fully accessible round the clock. There is a hardcore basketball court, play area with wooden equipment, outdoor gym, enclosed children's play area and an unmarked football pitch on the grassed area with permanent goal posts. At the southern end of the Recreation Ground there is an enclosed skate park. Toilets may be accessed at the nearby Swimming Pool in Lawnside Road. The car park may be accessed via the Bye Street entrance. There is also a public car park in Lawnside Road which is accessible via a footpath from the Recreation Ground.
