The Memorial Gardens sit at the southern end of Mansfield Road Recreation Ground and are accessed from the park through a wooden arch inscribed with the word “Remembrance” and from the road through a pair of gates containing the words “Memorial Garden”. Rectangular in shape, the Gardens have good quality wheelchair access paths around the perimeter.
In the centre of the space is a rose bed planted to celebrate the Royal British Legion and a plaque commemorates the planting which was performed by members of the Legion. Poppies were also sown in the spring of 2014 to mark the centenary commemorations.
The park has a number of seats that offer views over the Eastwood countryside which is celebrated in DH Lawrence novels. The park is next to Durban House, the home of the DH Lawrence Birthplace Museum.
