The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge aimed to permanently protect parks and green spaces across the UK, facilitate participation events and provide improvement funding.

Achievements

A total of 1,392 Queen Elizabeth II Fields – over 8,600 hectares (over 21,300 acres) – permanently protected in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland


300+ joint branded community events held in 2012 with 60,000 attendees


Three high profile royal engagements generating in excess of £1.5 million worth of media coverage


£3 million invested in improvements to Queen Elizabeth II Fields


The partnership was a practical and positive demonstration of Asda and the Asda Foundation’s commitment to the health and wellbeing of local communities. At least one Queen Elizabeth II Field was protected within a five-mile radius of 85% of Asda stores whilst instore promotion of partnership activity and fundraising totalled £384,000, leading to the project being a Finalist at the 2013 Business Charity Awards in the Retail and Charity Partnership of the Year category.
